Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick round.
  6. Cut into wedges or rounds and place them on a prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Toss sliced strawberries with powdered sugar and let them sit.
  9. Once the shortcakes cool slightly, split them in half and layer with strawberries and whipped cream.
