Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick round.
- Cut into wedges or rounds and place them on a prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Toss sliced strawberries with powdered sugar and let them sit.
- Once the shortcakes cool slightly, split them in half and layer with strawberries and whipped cream.
