Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp instant or active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- Fresh rosemary (optional)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
Instructions
- Combine flour, salt, and yeast in a large mixing bowl.
- Add warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest for 12 to 18 hours.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a ball.
- Place the dough on floured parchment paper, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise for another hour.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and place the dough inside using the parchment.
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Allow the dough to rise overnight for best flavor. Can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for 3 months.
