Description

Enjoy delicious and nutritious oven-baked cabbage burgers topped with juicy patties and melty cheese. A healthy twist on traditional burgers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small head cabbage (cut into thick slices)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey (or ground chicken or plant-based options)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg (optional, for binding)
  • 1 cup cheese (shredded, for sprinkling on top)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the cabbage by cutting it into thick slices, about one inch wide.
  3. Brush both sides of the cabbage slices with olive oil.
  4. Mix the ground beef or turkey with onion, garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg if using.
  5. Form equal-sized patties from the meat mixture.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing cabbage slices on a baking sheet and topping each with a patty and cheese.
  7. Bake for about 25 minutes until cooked through and cabbage is tender.

Notes

For extra crunch, flip the cabbage slices halfway through the baking process. Use a grill for an alternative cooking method, keeping an eye on the cabbage.
