Description
A tantalizing dish combining sweet honey, tangy orange, and spicy ginger, enveloping tender chicken thighs in a delightful sticky glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500 g chicken thighs or drumettes, skin-on
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Zest and juice of 1 orange
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, grated ginger, minced garlic, orange zest and juice, and rice vinegar. Whisk until well integrated and aromatic.
- Marinate the chicken: Add the chicken thighs or drumettes to the marinade, ensuring each piece is coated. Cover and let it sit for at least 20 minutes in the fridge for maximum flavor.
- Heat your skillet: Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil. Allow it to get hot until shimmering.
- Sear the chicken: Carefully add the marinated chicken to the skillet, cooking until golden brown on one side, about 5-7 minutes, then flip and cook until caramelized.
- Add the marinade: Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet after the chicken is browned, cooking until the chicken is fully cooked through, approximately 10 more minutes.
- Finish with garnish: Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the chicken and top with fresh cilantro.
Notes
For deeper flavors, marinate overnight. This dish can also be prepared in an air fryer or baked in the oven.
