  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (e.g., rotisserie)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (preferably sharp)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, letting it soften for about 3-4 minutes until it turns translucent.
  2. Toss in the broccoli florets and let them cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and orzo. Toast for about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the chicken broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  5. Allow to simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes, stirring often until the orzo is al dente.
  6. Fold in the shredded chicken, stirring to warm through.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  8. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Let sit for 2-3 minutes before serving.
