Ingredients

  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the sour cream, eggs, vanilla bean paste, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with the batter.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cupcakes cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and pipe it onto the cupcakes.
  10. Sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar on top of the whipped cream and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden brown.
