A delicious and surprising dish that combines the sweetness of apple cider with savory pulled pork, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 4 pounds pork shoulder
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Rub the pork shoulder with brown sugar, Dijon mustard, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Place the seasoned pork on top of the onions and garlic in the slow cooker.
  4. Pour the apple cider over the pork.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
  6. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
  7. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the juices.
  8. Serve warm, ideally on buns or with sides of your choice.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add more cayenne pepper.
  • This dish pairs well with coleslaw and pickles.
