A delicious and surprising dish that combines the sweetness of apple cider with savory pulled pork, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients

- 4 pounds pork shoulder
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Rub the pork shoulder with brown sugar, Dijon mustard, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Place the seasoned pork on top of the onions and garlic in the slow cooker.
- Pour the apple cider over the pork.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the juices.
- Serve warm, ideally on buns or with sides of your choice.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more cayenne pepper.
- This dish pairs well with coleslaw and pickles.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
