- 1 ball of pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or crushed San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked spicy Italian sausage (crumbled)
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Hot honey, to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C), placing a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
- On a floured surface, roll out your pizza dough to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the rolled dough onto a parchment-lined pizza peel or baking sheet.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the base, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, followed by the crumbled sausage.
- Add dollops of ricotta across the pizza.
- If desired, sprinkle red pepper flakes over the top and drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- Remove from the oven, drizzle with hot honey, and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
- Slice and serve hot.
Notes
For a healthier option, consider using a whole wheat or cauliflower pizza dough. Customize the toppings to your taste.
