  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Divide the dough into equal pieces and shape them into pretzel forms.
  6. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda.
  7. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Brush each pretzel with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
