Description

A comforting and creamy Cajun Chicken Alfredo Orzo that brings rich flavors and warmth to your table, all made in one pot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Chicken (Diced, can substitute with shrimp or Andouille sausage)
  • 1 tbsp Cajun Seasoning (Adjust salt and heat levels as preferred)
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika (Regular paprika is a substitute if needed)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (Optional for extra heat)
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil (For sautéing)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (Enhances creaminess; add more if desired)
  • 1 medium Onion (Chopped, yellow or sweet preferred)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (Minced, for flavor)
  • 1 cup Orzo Pasta (Main carbohydrate; other small pasta can be substituted)
  • 2 cups Low-Sodium Chicken Broth (Makes the dish flavorful)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream (Can substitute with half and half for a lighter version)
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (Freshly grated preferred)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley (Chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Olive Oil: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Sauté the Chicken: Add the diced chicken, seasoning it with Cajun spice, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through, stirring occasionally.
  3. Incorporate the Aromatics: Toss in the chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the onions become translucent.
  4. Add Orzo and Broth: Stir in the orzo and pour in the low-sodium chicken broth, letting the mixture come to a gentle boil.
  5. Simmer to Perfection: Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook until orzo is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid—around 10-12 minutes.
  6. Finish with Cream and Cheese: Stir in heavy cream and butter, mixing in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese until creamy.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve warm.
