- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla and sour cream.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the chocolate buttercream, beat together ½ cup softened butter, 2 cups powdered sugar, ¼ cup cocoa powder, and 2-3 tbsp milk until smooth and creamy.
- Once the cake is cool, frost with chocolate buttercream and serve.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
- This cake can be frozen for up to 2 months; wrap it tightly in plastic wrap.
