- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 hamburger buns (brioche or artisan)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lettuce and tomato for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside on paper towels.
- In the same skillet, add onions to the bacon drippings and cook until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, whisk together maple syrup, bourbon, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce for BBQ sauce.
- Form ground beef into four patties and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the patties in the skillet for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness.
- In the last minute of cooking, brush BBQ sauce over each patty.
- Assemble the burgers: place the patty on a toasted bun, top with bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, and tomato.
- Serve hot and enjoy!

Consider using turkey or veggie patties for a lighter option. Can make BBQ sauce in advance.
