- 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Peel and grate the potatoes, then soak them in cold water for 10 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain the potatoes and squeeze out any excess water.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, shredded cheese, flour, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the pan and flatten them slightly.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with dipping sauce if desired.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
- Feel free to add chopped green onions or other vegetables for extra flavor.
