A flavorful and aromatic chicken shawarma recipe served with a creamy garlic sauce.
Ingredients

- 2 lbs chicken thighs
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 cucumber, sliced
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix garlic, olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken thighs to the marinade and coat well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat.
- Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
- Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Warm the pita breads on the grill for a minute.
- Assemble the shawarma by placing sliced chicken, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber in the pita.
- Drizzle with garlic sauce before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add pickles or onions to the shawarma.
- Garlic sauce can be made by mixing mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, and salt.
- Marinating overnight enhances the flavor of the chicken.
