Description

Ingredients

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 cucumber, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix garlic, olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the marinade and coat well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
  5. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  6. Warm the pita breads on the grill for a minute.
  7. Assemble the shawarma by placing sliced chicken, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber in the pita.
  8. Drizzle with garlic sauce before serving.

  • For extra flavor, add pickles or onions to the shawarma.
  • Garlic sauce can be made by mixing mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, and salt.
