Crispy Coconut Crusted Tofu is a delicious vegan dish that combines the crunchiness of coconut with the soft texture of tofu, making it a perfect snack or main course.

- 1 block firm tofu, pressed and drained
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup plant-based milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking.
- Cut the pressed tofu into slices or cubes.
- In one bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- In a second bowl, pour the plant-based milk.
- In a third bowl, combine shredded coconut and breadcrumbs.
- Dip each tofu piece first in the flour mixture, then in the plant-based milk, and finally coat with the coconut-breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the tofu until golden brown on all sides, or place on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
- Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
- Can be served with a sweet chili sauce for added flavor.
