Description

Crispy Coconut Crusted Tofu is a delicious vegan dish that combines the crunchiness of coconut with the soft texture of tofu, making it a perfect snack or main course.


Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed and drained
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup plant-based milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into slices or cubes.
  3. In one bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a second bowl, pour the plant-based milk.
  5. In a third bowl, combine shredded coconut and breadcrumbs.
  6. Dip each tofu piece first in the flour mixture, then in the plant-based milk, and finally coat with the coconut-breadcrumb mixture.
  7. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the tofu until golden brown on all sides, or place on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
