- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.
- In a mixing bowl, blend ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the grated Parmesan until smooth.
- Spread a layer of marinara sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish, then place 3 lasagna noodles on top.
- Layer 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, followed by 1/3 of the meat mixture, and top with 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layering process for two more cycles.
- Finish with a layer of noodles topped with marinara sauce, the remaining mozzarella, and rest of the Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is golden.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Lasagna tastes better the next day. Assemble and refrigerate overnight, adding extra cooking time when baking.
