Description

A heartwarming dish made with layers of pasta, savory ground beef, rich marinara sauce, and creamy cheeses, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, blend ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the grated Parmesan until smooth.
  4. Spread a layer of marinara sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish, then place 3 lasagna noodles on top.
  5. Layer 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, followed by 1/3 of the meat mixture, and top with 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Repeat the layering process for two more cycles.
  7. Finish with a layer of noodles topped with marinara sauce, the remaining mozzarella, and rest of the Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is golden.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Lasagna tastes better the next day. Assemble and refrigerate overnight, adding extra cooking time when baking.
