- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in buttermilk until fully combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Pour about 1/4 of the batter into each loaf pan, sprinkle with 1/4 of the cinnamon mixture, and repeat.
- Gently swirl through the batter with a butter knife.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
To enhance the flavor, consider using a buttermilk substitute if necessary. Avoid overmixing to keep the loaf light and fluffy.
