Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in buttermilk until fully combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Pour about 1/4 of the batter into each loaf pan, sprinkle with 1/4 of the cinnamon mixture, and repeat.
  9. Gently swirl through the batter with a butter knife.
  10. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow the bread to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

To enhance the flavor, consider using a buttermilk substitute if necessary. Avoid overmixing to keep the loaf light and fluffy.
